PERSONAL

Jill Kintner, a three-time 4-cross World Champion, traded her mountain bike for a BMX bicycle after the International Olympic Committee announced that BMX would become an Olympic sport. Jill Kintner quit BMX after becoming the BMX Junior World Champion in her 16th year and winning over 70 races. In the sport’s short history of five years, she was arguably the most successful competitor.

Jill graduated high school and competed in BMX while she was studying design at California College of Arts. Jill was able to achieve all her goals in BMX, winning the majority of the major titles and she decided to take up mountain biking, a passion that she had always wanted to do. Kintner was able to transfer her BMX skills quite well when 4-cross was introduced in 2003. It was evident by her three consecutive world titles (2005-07), 13 World Cups, and two overall World Cup championships.

Kintner returned to the BMX circuit for the first time in 2007. While Kintner found it a little difficult, she quickly regained her status as one of the top athletes in the country. She placed fifth at the Olympic Test in Beijing in August 2007, which showed she is on track to win an Olympic medal.

POINTS OF INTEREST

*Jill has a passion for drawing, photography, and graphic design. Jill created her own website at www.jillkintner.com. She had to get the domain name from her mother, an opportunistic trash collector, who registered it.

*Jill is currently an athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista (CA), where the USOC & France Cycling created a exact replica of Beijing’s Olympic track.
