What Is A Trundle Bed?
As a child, did you ever sleep on a trundle at night? Bunk beds can take up too much space, and your child could fall out of bed if they are at a higher level. Trundle beds are a great solution to this problem.
Trundle beds are low, on-wheel beds that you store under your main bed’s frame. The mattress can be hidden under the bed frame for the day, but you can pull it out at night if it is being used. This will maximize wall and floor space.
Some trundles are low enough to touch the ground, while others can rise to equal height with the mattress. Trundle beds are most commonly used by children. They can be used for sleepovers, visiting family and friends, and for sharing a space with two other kids.
Remember that you will pay slightly more for a trundle bed if you are considering purchasing one. This is because you’re buying two beds instead of one.
You will need another mattress for this area. However, because the mattress will mostly be hidden under the standard bed frame, there are limits to how thick it can be.
We recommend a mattress between 8 and 25 cm thick. As long as the main mattress is not used on top, there should be no restrictions. It can be any type of memory foam, hybrid, latex or latex and as thick or thin as you like.
There Are Many Types Of Trundle Beds
Day bedsThese bed frames have three sides, so they look like a sofa or lounge area. These beds look great when placed along long walls, and are very elegant.
Some day beds can be used as sofas in living room. Simply add pillows and bedding to your bed when you’re ready to go. If there’s enough space underneath the bed frame to accommodate a different mattress, day beds can be quickly converted into trundle beds.
Day beds are usually seen in double sizes, but you may also see them in full or queen sizes.
Sleigh bedsHave a headboard with a footboard that slightly curls out so your mattress looks a bit like a sleigh.
Sleigh beds have higher bed frames so you can easily convert them into trundle beds. However, some models are already equipped with one.
Captain BedsMake the most of your space with ample storage in drawers and shelves in the headboard.
These beds are great for small apartments and compact rooms. These beds can be purchased in full, twin and sometimes queen sizes, just like the other types of beds.
This bed is perfect for your children’s best night in, or if you have a New York apartment with three roommates. However, you should have a ladder or another way to get into the top bunk.
Trundle beds can be a valuable piece of furniture for anyone looking to maximize space, or who has children.
